USS YF-1079
, ex LST-39 (1943-1946)

Beached (on the right) in Buckner Bay, Okinawa, after Typhoon Louise ravaged that port in October 1945.
This November 1945 photo shows a portion of her starboard bow. Another service craft, possibly YF-757, lies sunken beyond her.
LST-39 was sunk in the West Loch ammuntion explosion at Pearl Harbor on 21 May 1944. She was raised, converted to a spare parts issue barge, and redesignated YF-1079 in August 1944. YF-1079 was stricken from the Navy list in February 1946 and destroyed in August 1946.

Collection of Dr. Richard Raymond Gratton (1915-1990), donated by his daughter, Barbara Gratton Stillwater, 2008.
