Rear Admiral John D. Bulkeley, USN

Looks through the barrel of a U.S. 12-inch Mortar (No. 172) on
Corregidor, Manila Bay, Philippines. The photo, taken by Journalist
First Class W.G. Broome, is dated 8 August 1977.
RAdm. Bulkeley was revisiting the Corregidor after more than
35 years. On 11 March 1942, as a Lieutenant, he piloted USS PT-41
when she evacuated U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur, with
members of the General's family and his party, from the island
during the Japanese campaign to capture the Philippines.
