Rear Admiral John D. Bulkeley, USN

At the Corregidor Memorial on Corregidor, Manila Bay, Philippines, during his return visit to the island after more than 35 years. The photo, taken by Journalist First Class W.G. Broome, is dated 8 August 1977.
On 11 March 1942 then-Lieutenant Bulkeley piloted USS PT-41 when she evacuated U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur, with members of the General's family and his party, from the island during the Japanese campaign to capture the Philippines.
