Rear Admiral John D. Bulkeley, USN

Points out the old north pier on Corregidor Island, Manila Bay, Philippines to Lieutenant Commander Erwin Sharp, USN. From that location on the night of 11 March 1942, then-Lieutenant Bulkeley, commanding USS PT-41, evacuated U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur, with members of the General's family and his party, from the island during the Japanese campaign to capture the Philippines.
The photo, taken by Journalist First Class W.G. Broome, is dated 8 August 1977.
