S.S. Clara Mennig
(Ex-German freighter, 1909)

Shown by an unidentified artist flying the American flag, carrying two guns, and with the name Clara Mennig on her bow.
This ship was seized by the U.S. in April 1917 and began her first voyage for the U.S. Shipping Board in May. In September 1917 her armed guard was credited with firing on a submarine. Soon afterwards she was renamed Yadkin.
