S.S. America (Italian passenger ship, 1909)

Photograph reproduced on an Italian post card, showing the ship in commercial service prior to World War I.
This ship was owned by the Italian "La Veloce" shipping firm, whose funnels were yellow with a red star. She was 154 meters long, had a beam of 17 meters, displaced 9,000 tons, and operated at a speed of 15 knots. The caption of this post card states that she was an auxiliary cruiser of the Italian Navy. America helped carry U.S. troops to Europe during World War I.
