Halftone reproduction of a photograph taken circa 1944-1945, copied from the official publication "Medal of Honor, 1861-1949, The Navy", page 197.
William E. Hall was awarded the Medal of Honor for "extreme courage and conspicuous heroism" while serving as a Pilot with Scouting Squadron Two, flying from USS Lexington (CV-2) during the Battle of the Coral Sea, 7-8 May 1942.
