Equator Crossing Card

Given to Midshipman Harold M. Bemis, of USS Maine (Battleship # 10) in recognition that he had crossed the Equator while his ship was steaming south off the Brazilian coast during the "Great White Fleet"'s World cruise.
Note that the date given on the card (3 January 1908) is incorrect. The actual date of the Equator crossing, and associated ceremonies, was on 6 January 1908.
