It depicts the ship under sail during her eastbound voyage around the World, 30 May 1844 -- 27 September 1846, while under the command of Captain John Percival. The original painting is in the U.S. Naval Academy Museum, Annapolis, Maryland. It was donated by Nelson B. Gaskill in 1960.
