Closeup view of the ship's forward superstructure, taken at the Mare Island Navy Yard, California, 24 June 1944.
View looks down on the port side of the pilothouse, and shows the ship's Mark 33 gun director, with fire control radar antenna, in the upper right. Also seen are her two forward 5"/38 Mark 21 gun mounts, non-skid deck treads, and life rafts.
Circles mark recent alterations to the ship.
