"15000-Ton Aircraft Carrier (CVX) Study"

Preliminary design plan prepared in response to a request from the General Board for smaller carrier design possibilities.
This plan, dated 20 July 1940, is for a ship of 15,000 tons standard displacement and a waterline length of 670'. Powerplant has 120,000 horsepower for a speed of 32 knots.
The ship is similar in size and appearance to USS Wasp (CV-7), but with more powerful machinery, greater speed and only two aircraft elevators.
Scale of the original drawings is 1/32" = 1'.

The original plan is in the 1939-1944 "Spring Styles Book" held by the Naval Historical Center.
