"Data Relative to Schemes for Battleship 1913 Program" ... March 2, 1912

Data tables prepared to permit comparison of features adopted in four alternative preliminary designs that had been prepared to support Navy Department deliberations over the design for battleships to be funded in Fiscal Year 1913. The data for the new candidate designs are compared with the approved characteristics for the preceding Nevada (Battleship #36) class (see Photo # S-584-009). The first data category compares weights associated with armor protection in each design, contrasting the values in terms of weight per inch of thickness. The values vary, apparently, according to the different surface areas in each design. The second category shows weight changes imposed by each new feature over the Nevada class. The third category of data compares total weights in tons for each of the five designs by weight category.
Note: The original document was a blueprint (white on dark blue).

The original plan is in the 1911-1925 "Spring Styles Book".
