Cherbourg Campaign, June 1944


Center of the town of Valognes, which was ruined by Allied bombing and shelling during the drive on Cherbourg. Photographed on 24 June 1944.
Note Jeep in the foreground, nicknamed "Always Ruth". Trucks and a power shovel are clearing rubble in the middle distance.
