Alcalda, a 105-foot motor yacht, was built in 1910 at Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York. The Navy took her over and placed her in commission as USS Alcalda (SP-630) in May 1917. She operated along the southern shore of New England on anti-submarine and anti-mine patrol duties for the rest of World War I. Alcalda was returned to her owner in January 1919.
This page features our only view of the motor yacht Alcalda, which served as USS Alcalda (SP-630) in 1917-1919.
