Alcalda (American Motor Yacht, 1910).
Served as USS Alcalda (SP-630) in 1917-1919

Alcalda, a 105-foot motor yacht, was built in 1910 at Port Jefferson, Long Island, New York. The Navy took her over and placed her in commission as USS Alcalda (SP-630) in May 1917. She operated along the southern shore of New England on anti-submarine and anti-mine patrol duties for the rest of World War I. Alcalda was returned to her owner in January 1919.

This page features our only view of the motor yacht Alcalda, which served as USS Alcalda (SP-630) in 1917-1919.

Alcalda
(American Motor Yacht, 1910)

Photographed prior to World War I.
This motor yacht was commissioned as USS Alcalda (SP-630) on 11 May 1917. Following World War I service, she was returned to her owner on 11 January 1919.
The original photograph bears the mark of the New York yacht brokers Gielow & Orr.
