Broadbill, a 66-foot motor boat, was built in 1916-1917 at Long Beach, California, as a pleasure craft. She was purchased by the Navy in June 1918 and placed in commission as USS Broadbill (SP-823). For the rest of World War I, and for several months after the November 1918 Armistice, the boat was employed on section patrol duties out of San Diego, California. Decommissioned in May 1919, Broadbill was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard in December 1919. Renamed Swift, she served at San Francisco, California, until 1935.
This page features all the views we have concerning the motor boat Broadbill, which was later USS Broadbill (SP-823) and USCGC Swift.
