Comet (American Fishing Boat, 1910).
Served as USS Comet (SP-772) in 1918
Comet, a 107 gross ton motor fishing trawler, was built
in 1910 by E.W. Heath & Company at Tacoma, Washington. She was
taken over by the Navy in November 1917 and placed in commission
as USS Comet (SP-772) in February 1918. Apparently her
services were not long required, as in August 1918 the Commandant,
13th Naval District (Pacific Northwestern U.S.) was ordered to
return Comet to her owner, the San Juan Fishing & Packing
Company, of Seattle.
This page features the only views we have concerning the
fishing boat Comet, which was USS Comet (SP-772)
in 1918.
