Charles T. Gallagher (American Harbor Tug, 1904)
Charles T. Gallagher, a 90 gross ton wooden harbor tug,
was built in 1904 by the Portland Shipbuilding Company of South
Portland, Maine. In March 1918, when she was owned by the Commercial
Towing Company of Boston, Massachusetts, the tug was inspected
by the First Naval District and assigned Navy registry ID # 2386.
Though ordered taken over in May 1918, she remained in the hands
of her owner and did not enter Naval service.

harbor tug Charles T. Gallagher.

Photographed in 1918 or before.
This tug was inspected by the First Naval District on 7 March
1918 and assigned the registry ID # 2386. On 18 May 1918 she
was ordered taken over for the Navy, but the action was not carried
out.

This tug was built in 1904 by the Portland Shipbuilding Company
of South Portland, Maine, and owned by the Commercial Towing
Company of Boston, Massachusetts. She was inspected by the First
Naval District on 7 March 1918 for possible acquisition and assigned
the registry ID # 2386. Though ordered taken over on 18 May 1918,
this action was not carried out, and she remained in her owner's
custody.
