Eleanor (American Motor Boat, 1910).
Previously named Tringa.
Served as USS Eleanor (SP-677) in 1917-1919

Tringa, a 58-foot motor boat, was built in 1910 by Murray & Tregurtha of South Boston, Massachusetts, for use as a pleasure craft. Her name was later changed to Eleanor. In late June 1917 she was leased to the U.S. Navy for World War I service as a patrol boat. Placed in commission as USS Eleanor (SP-677) in July 1917, she operated in the Boston area until December 1918, when she was decommissioned. The boat was returned to her owner, C.B. Houghton of Corning, New York, in mid-April 1919.

This page features the only view we have concerning the motor boat Eleanor, which served as USS Eleanor (SP-677) in 1917-1919.
