Later USS Hurst (SP-3156), 1918-1919

Hurst, a 17-ton motor boat, was built in 1918 at Norfolk, Virginia. The U.S. Navy acquired her in August 1918 and placed her in commission as USS Hurst. The craft served as a passenger and dispatch boat in the Hampton Roads, Virginia, area for the remainder of World War 1 and into the first year of peace. She was transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service in November 1919.
