Motor Boat Ionita (1914);
Later USS Ionita (SP-388), 1917-1919
Ionita, a 55-foot motor boat, was built in 1914 at Trenton,
Michigan, for use as a pleasure craft on the Great Lakes. Acquired
by the Navy in August 1917 and commissioned as USS Ionita
(SP-388) a month later, she was employed for patrol duties in
the Detroit River area. Following the end of World War I, Ionita
served at the Naval Training Camp, Detroit. She was sold in November
1919.
This page features all the views we have related to the motor boat Ionita and to USS Ionita (SP-388).
