Jessamine (Motor Boat, 1907).
Served as USS Jessamine (SP-438) and USS SP-438, 1917-1919

Jessamine, a 90' 3" motor yacht, was built by J.M. Bayles & Son at Port Jefferson, New York, in 1907. She was acquired by the Navy for World War I service and commissioned in June 1917. Based at Detroit, Michigan, USS Jessamine served as a patrol boat in the Detroit and St. Clair Rivers and on Lake St. Clair. In early 1918, she was renamed SP-438. She was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard in December 1919. Renamed Javelin by the Coast Guard, she was employed in the Detroit area until July 1922, when she was sold.

This page features all the views we have concerning the motor boat Jessamine, which served as USS Jessamine (SP-438) in 1917-1919.
