John G. Olsen (Harbor Tug, 1916).
Served as USS John G. Olsen (ID # 2377), 1918-1919

John G. Olsen, a 61 gross ton steam harbor tug, was built by Hawley Miller at New Baltimore, New York, in 1916. Owned by the Olsen Water & Towing Company, of New York City, she was acquired by the Navy in April 1918 and assigned to duty in the Fifth Naval District. During the remaining months of World War I, she served as a tug in the vicinity of Hampton Roads, Virginia, supporting the activities of the Naval Overseas Transportation Service. Later, she was stationed at Indian Head, Maryland. USS John G. Olsen was returned to her owners in August 1919.

This page features the only views we have of the tug John G. Olsen, which was USS John G. Olsen (ID # 2377) in 1918-1919.
