Josephine, a 32-ton motor yacht built in 1905 at New Orleans, Louisiana, was acquired by the Navy in October 1917 and placed in commission early in the following month. She served during World War I as a patrol craft on the lower Mississippi River and in the Gulf of Mexico. USS Josephine was returned to her owners in December 1918.

This page features our only view of the motor yacht Josephine, later USS Josephine (SP-1243).
