S.S. Lake Grainger (American Freighter, 1918)

Lake Grainger, a 2615 gross ton freighter, was built at Chicago, Illinois in 1918-1919 as part of the World War I emergency ship construction effort. Considered for U.S. Navy service and assigned the registry ID # 4276, she was not taken over and remained in civilian custody. The ship was later sold to the Ford Motor Company and scrapped by them in 1928.

Built by the Chicago Shipbuilding Company of Chicago, Illinois, Lake Grainger was inspected for possible U.S. Navy service and assigned the registry ID # 4276, but was not taken over by the Navy.
