Lake Grainger, a 2615 gross ton freighter, was built at Chicago, Illinois in 1918-1919 as part of the World War I emergency ship construction effort. Considered for U.S. Navy service and assigned the registry ID # 4276, she was not taken over and remained in civilian custody. The ship was later sold to the Ford Motor Company and scrapped by them in 1928.
This page features our only view of the freighter Lake Grainger of 1918.
