Malay (Steam Yacht, 1898);
Later USS Malay (SP-735), 1917-1919

Malay, a 173-ton steam yacht, was built at Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1898. The Navy leased her in April 1917 for World War I service, placing her in commission the following June as USS Malay (SP-735). After spending World War I on patrol service off the Atlantic Coast, Malay was returned to her owner in March 1919.

This page features our only view of the steam yacht Malay, which served as USS Malay (SP-735) in 1917-19.
