Margaret (U.S. Steam Yacht, 1913).
Served in 1917-1920 as USS Margaret (SP-524) and as USS
SP-524
Margaret, a 145-foot steam yacht, was built in 1913
at Morris Heights, New York. She was acquired by the Navy in April
1917, converted to a patrol vessel, and commissioned late in the
following June as USS Margaret (SP-524). She was renamed
SP-524 in 1918. In the Spring of 1919, following World
War I service, she was ordered sold, but was instead transferred
to the War Department in March 1920.

which served as USS Margaret (SP-524) and USS SP-524
in 1917-1920.

Margaret (U.S. Steam Yacht, 1913)
Photographed prior to 1917.
She was acquired by the Navy for World War I service on 28 April
1917 and placed in commission on 28 June 1917 as USS Margaret
(SP-524). She renamed SP-524 in 1918. On 9 March 1920,
she was transferred to the War Department.

Margaret (U.S. Steam Yacht, 1913)
At Boston, Massachusetts, 3 May 1917, while being converted for
World War I Navy service. The torpedo boats Blakely (Torpedo
Boat # 27) and DuPont (Torpedo Boat # 7) are at right.
Acquired by the Navy on 28 April 1917 and placed in commission
on 28 June 1917 as USS Margaret (SP-524), this yacht was
renamed SP-524 in 1918. She was transferred to the War
Department on 9 March 1920.
