Mary (Motor Boat, 1907).
Previously named Dida and (perhaps) Boston

Mary, a 57' 6" motor boat, was built in 1907 (or 1908) at Morris Heights, New York, as a pleasure craft. She was also named Dida and perhaps Boston in the years following her completion. Though surveyed in 1917 for possible Navy use and given the identification number SP-462, Mary was not taken over and remained a civilian craft throughout the First World War.

This page features our only views of the motor boat Mary.

Mary
(American Motor Boat, 1907-1908)

In a harbor, prior to World War I.
Evaluated for possible service as "strong and well built in good condition but not able to keep sea in heavy weather", and given the identification number SP-462, this pleasure craft was not taken over by the Navy.
The original print has been crudely annotated to note a changed location for the boat's mast. The name Mary is visible on her life rings.
