Minerva (American Motor Boat, 1914).
Served as USS Minerva (SP-425) in 1917-1919
Minerva, an 80-foot motor boat, was built by Luders
Marine Construction Company at Stamford, Connecticut, in 1914
for use as a pleasure craft. Leased by the U.S. Navy in May 1917,
she was commissioned two months later as USS Minerva (SP-425).
During the rest of World War I she performed patrol duties and
guarded anti-submarine nets in the New York City area. She was
decommissioned and returned to her owner in January 1919.
This page features our only views of the motor boat Minerva,
which was USS Minerva (SP-425) during 1917-1919.
