Raymond (American Barge, 1893).
Served as USS Raymond (ID # 2057) in 1917-1919

Raymond, a 183 gross ton wooden barge, was built in 1893. Purchased by the Navy for World War I service, was delivered in December 1917. For the next year and a half, Raymond (ID # 2057) was employed as a yard craft along the southern shore of New England. She was sold in August 1919.

This page features our only views of the barge Raymond, which served as USS Raymond during World War I.

Raymond

Photographed prior to World War I.
Acquired by the Navy on 21 December 1917, she subsequently served as USS Raymond (ID # 2057) and was sold on 15 August 1919.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.

Note: The Ships' Histories Branch of the Naval Historical Center holds another photograph of Raymond, taken prior to her Naval service. It was taken from off her port bow, while she was in a harbor.
