Steamship South Carolina (1869-1891)

South Carolina, an iron side-wheel steamship, was originally completed in 1865 as USS Winnipec. After the Navy sold her to private owners in June 1869, she was rebuilt for merchant employment and renamed South Carolina. Converted to screw propulsion and lengthened a decade later, she remained in civil use until broken up in 1891.
