Walter Hardcastle (American Oil Tanker, 1912).
Originally named L.V. Stoddard

Walter Hardcastle, a 3099 gross ton oil tanker, was built at Toledo, Ohio, in 1912 as the commercial steamer L.V. Stoddard. She was rebuilt in 1915 at Erie Basin, New York, and renamed at some point. The Navy inspected her for possible World War I use in March 1918, in the vicinity of New York City, and assigned the registry ID number 2464 to her. However, Walter Hardcastle was not acquired and remained in civilian hands.

This page features the only views we have of the tanker Walter Hardcastle.
