War Baron (British Freighter, 1917)

War Baron, a 6293.76 gross ton freighter, was built at Portland, Oregon, in 1917 for British interests. The U.S. Navy inspected her in late June 1917 for possible acquisition, and assigned her the registry ID # 1641. In December 1917 her owner informed the Navy that War Baron was operating in the common Allied cause under "British flag and register", and she was not taken over.

This page features our only view of the freighter War Baron.
