USS Concord, a 1710-ton gunboat of the Yorktown class, was built at Chester, Pennsylvania, and commissioned in February 1891. She operated in the Atlantic area until 1893, when she transferred to the Pacific for the rest of her career. During the Spanish-American War, she was part of the Asiatic Squadron, and participated in the Battle of Manila Bay on 1 May 1898.
After 1898, Concord served in the Philippines area and elsewhere in the Pacific until she left active service in 1909. However, she continued to be utilized as a barracks ship and quarantine station ship on the west coast until her sale in June 1929.
This page features several views related to USS Concord that have been cross-referenced from Spanish-American War coverage.
