USS Corona (SP-813), 1917-1921
Originally the steam yacht Corona (1905)

USS Corona, a 304 gross ton patrol vessel, was built at Leith, Scotland, in 1905 as a civilian steam yacht. She was purchased by the Navy in June 1917 and placed in commission in July. At the end of that month she began a voyage to France by way of Newfoundland and the Azores. For the rest of World War I Corona was based at Brest, France, and employed on patrol and convoy escort duties to help protect Allied supply lines from German submarines. She returned to the U.S. in December 1918, was decommissioned in May 1919 and sold at the beginning of October 1921.

This page features the only view we have concerning USS Corona (SP-813).
