USS Ellen (SP-284), 1917-1919.
Originally the civilian motor boat Ellen (1911)

USS Ellen, a 67' 10" section patrol boat, was built in 1911 at Staten Island, New York, as the motor pleasure boat of the same name. She was acquired by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission the following August. After spending the rest of World War I operating in the New York region, USS Ellen was sold at the end of April 1919.

This page features the only views we have concerning USS Ellen (SP-284) and the civilian motor boat Ellen.
