USS Elsie III (SP-708), 1917-1919.
Previously was the civilian motor boat Elsie III (Built 1912)

USS Elsie III, a 52-foot patrol boat, was built in 1912 at Morris Heights, New York, for use as a civilian pleasure craft. Purchased by the Navy soon after the United States entered World War I, she was commissioned in late June 1917. Her Naval service was spent in the vicinity of Boston, Massachusetts, on patrol, despatch, towing and transportation duties. No longer needed by the Navy after the end of hostilities, Elsie III was transferred to the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in April 1919.

This page features all the views we have related to USS Elsie III (SP-708) and to the civilian motor boat Elsie III.
