USS Farquhar, a 1190-ton Clemson class destroyer, was built at San Francisco, California. Commissioned in August 1920, she primarily operated in the Pacific, but passed through the Panama Canal in 1924 and 1927 to participate in U.S. Fleet maneuvers in the Caribbean area. In August 1921 Farquhar rescued passengers from the stranded steamship San Jose. She steamed to Hawaii in 1925 for exercises and, in mid-year, accompanied the Battle Fleet during its trans-Pacific cruise to New Zealand and Australia. Another visit to Hawaii was made in 1928. Farquhar was employed for Naval Reserve training during mid-1929. Decommissioned in February 1930, she was subsequently used as a barracks ship. USS Farquhar was scrapped in 1932.
USS Farquhar was named in honor of Rear Admiral Norman Von H. Farquhar (1840-1907), who served in the Navy from 1854 until 1902.
