USS Hyac (SP-216), 1917-1918.

USS Hyac, a 48-ton motor boat, was formerly the Chicago-based pleasure craft Hyac. The Navy obtained her in 1917 for use as a patrol boat, placing her in commission in July of that year. For the remainder of World War I, Hyac operated on the Great Lakes, from Chicago to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was returned to her owner in November 1918.
