USS I.J. Merritt (ID # 3780)
Photographed in 1919, soon after completion.
This salvage steamer was taken over by the Navy on 14 June 1918,
while under construction at Staten Island, New York. Launched
on 8 February 1919, she was delivered to the Navy on 27 August
1919 and sold back to her original owners, Merritt and Chapman,
on 13 December 1919.
The original is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
