USS Idaho, a 23-ton motor boat, was built in 1907 at Marblehead, Massachusetts. Acquired by the Navy in June 1917 and placed in commission in July, she served during World War I as a patrol craft in the vicinity of Cape May, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was renamed SP-545 during her Navy service and was returned to her owner in late November 1918.
