Formerly the Steam Yacht Linta (built in 1905)

USS Linta, a 108-foot steam yacht, was built in 1905 at Morris Heights, New York, as a civilian pleasure craft. She was taken over by the Navy in July 1917 under charter and commissioned in December of that year. Through the rest of World War I, she served as a patrol and escort vessel in the New York City area. Linta was decommissioned and returned to her owner in February 1919.
