USS Might, a 900-ton Action class gunboat, was launched at Quebec city, Canada in July 1942 as the "modified flower"class corvette HMCS Musk. Some days later she was transferred to the U.S. Navy and, upon completion in December 1942, was placed in commission as USS Might. She was used for the remainder of World War II on convoy escort and patrol duties in the Caribbean area and in the western Atlantic. For most of her service, Might's crew was provided by the U.S. Coast Guard. Decommissioned in October 1946, she was sold in October 1946. The little ship subsequently had a long civilian career, bearing the names Olympic Explorer, Otori Maru No. 3 and Kyo Maru No. 12 while employed in the whaling industry during the 1950s and into the 1960s.
