USS Patrol # 2 (SP-409), 1917-1919

Patrol # 2, a 40-foot motor boat built at Lynn, Massachusetts in about 1915-1916, was acquired by the Navy in April 1917. She was commissioned the following month as USS Patrol # 2 (SP-409) and served for the rest of World War I in the vicinity of Newport, Rhode Island. Decommissioned following the Armistice, Patrol # 2 was returned to her owner in January 1919.

USS Patrol No. 2 (SP-409)


Photographed during World War I.
Built in 1915 or 1916, this motor boat was acquired by the Navy on 26 April 1917 and commissioned on 19 May 1917. She was returned to her owner on 20 January 1919.

The original print is in National Archives' Record Group 19-LCM.
