USS Stinger (SP-1252), 1917-1919

Stinger, an 80' 6" steam-powered patrol boat, was built at Bristol, Rhode Island, in 1917. She was one of many would-be patrol vessels designed and constructed for private owners with the intention that they would be made available to the Navy if needed. Purchased following completion, she was commissioned in December 1917. The craft served for the rest of World War I, and for several months after the Armistice, in New England waters. Stinger was stricken from the Navy list in May 1919 and transferred to the War Department in November of that year.

This page features all the views we have related to USS Stinger (SP-1252).
