(1.) What is the sign of the source strength
R for each case?
(2.) Verify that the
sign of the source strength is consistent with the sign of the flux on
the left hand side of equation (5).
The figure below shows a cubic Gaussian surface drawn in a river.
The water current flows from left to right, perpendicular to the
shaded surfaces A and B.
The current enters face A with velocity vA =
0.8 m/s and leaves the face B with velocity
vB = 0.5 m/s.
Find the rate at which water is absorbed within the cubic Gaussian
surface, which has a side length of 10 meters.
