EX2: Cylindrical Shell

Homework Problems

Problem 34 - homework! :

Suppose a 50mm thick tube has an inner radius of 5mm. The temperature of the inner wall is at 30°C and the outer wall of the tube is at 100°C. Use (4.7) to calculate the temperature of the tube at the mean radius of the tube, r = 30mm.

Problem 35 - homework! :

Change the thickness of the tube to 1 mm. Calculate the temperature of the tube at the mean radius of the tube, r = 5.5mm.

Problem 36 - homework! :

For each of parts (a) and (b), plot T(r) as a function of r. Which graph is closer to a straight line?
