Re: [nafex] Ribe Information?
Have you tried two plant/extension publication - specific search engines?
E-answers, a searchable Web site that provides reliable, research-based
information on a wide range of Extension or Outreach-oriented subjects.
From this source you can access the knowledge of Land Grant universities
around the nation (USA).
(Searching for "ribes and culture" I got 13 hits of cultural info on
currants and gooseberries.)
PlantFacts has 2 databases to search:
Factsheet Database: Guides for answering plant-related questions from 46
different universities and government institutions across the United States
and Canada. Over 20,000 pages of Extension fact sheets and bulletins
provide a concentrated source of plant-related information.
Research and Teaching information from 40 university departments across the
United States. Over 20,000 pages related to admissions, degree
requirements, career opportunties, research projects, and online courses.
Professionals, amateurs, students, and teachers will find many useful
I didn't try searching in the latter two, but they are also very good.
here at Evans Library we have 3 books that we look to on C&G:
(the best book we have on this is:
Small fruit crop management / Gene J. Galletta, editor, David G. Himelrick,
editor, Lynda Chandler, illustrator. Englewood Cliffs, N.J. : Prentice
Currants and gooseberries culture guide / Monique Audette and Michel J.
Québec : Conseil des productions végétales du Québec, c1997.
Canada. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Research Branch.
Small fruit culture, 5th edition / James S. Shoemaker. Westport, Conn. :
AVI Pub. Co., c1978.
The berry grower's companion / Barbara L. Bowling. Imprint Portland, Or. :
Timber Press, 2000.
Growing berries and currants :a directory of varieties and how to cultivate
them successfully /
Author: Bird, Richard, 1942-; Whiteman, Kate. Publication: London : Lorenz,
2002 (brand new-sight unseen!)
Hope this helps!
