Re: [compost_tea] Puzzled!!! Wow Numbers

Scott,

I have made very good teas that have not gone bad in two days...smell wise. Who knows what is left a alive without a test.  So, don't jump to conclusions just because your tea doesn't smell bad after two days at 75 degrees in a closed bottle.

If there are no nutrients left in the  tea, what will the microbes live on? Each other. How long will the microbes live eating each other? A pretty long time, I would guess....at least several days.

Seems to me its the O2 problem, again, in the long run.

NOW as for making great teas out of great compost, what you get going out has a lot to do with what you have going in. Compare the numbers for the tests at http://www.alaskahumus.com/SFI_Results.pdf
with those at http://www.alaskahumus.com/fungaltest.htm.  I pulled those great tea fungal numbers out of the same Alaska Humus. But, don 't stop there!  The latest SFI tea numbers, still in prelim report status,  have fungal numbers in the high 70s.

These kinds of numbers are so easy to get if you follow the UNPATENTED, Alaska Humus method for increasing fungal numbers in teas:  Add nutrient to your compost/humus to wake up the fungi and get them growing BEFORE you add it to tea.  It is easy.  Well, it is easy to do if you use ALASKA HUMUS. See if it is easy to do in your compost. If not, we've got some for your next tea!

Cheers,
