We checked Lakes Hickory and Lookout Shoals yesterday for waterfowl. There
wasn't much in the way of ducks----but boy were there some swallows!!! It
seemed rather late to us to have this many. Details below.
Dusty Ridge Access (Alexander Co.)
4 Pied-billed Grebes
1 American Coot
1 American Kestrel
Oxford Access (Catawba Co.)
200+ Tree Swallows (feeding and moving just inches over the water)
14 Pied-billed Grebes
2 Mallards
5 American Coots
Lookout Shoals Lake (Catawba Co.)
3 Double-crested Cormorants
1 Pied-billed Grebe
7 Ring-billed Gulls
