I'm selling a birder's kayak

Carolinabirders,
In the last year I've gone out just about every week in a kayak to look at
birds on University Lake and Jordan Lake in Orange and Chatham Counties --
with short trips on some great swamp creeks in the Albemarle region. I've
done two bird counts by boat. And I've had lots of memorable moments:
seeing a small flock of bobolinks on Areneuse Creek down in Camden County,
chasing black crowned night herons up Northeast Creek (Jordan Lake) for a
half mile before getting a good look, being ignored by prothonotary warblers
at U. Lake as I observed them from 10 feet away, and grounding in the U.
Lake mudflats so I could plant my scope's legs in the mud next to the boat
and look at my life semipalmated sandpipers from 15 yards away. Birding by
boat is the most relaxing thing I've ever done in my life. I plan to do a
lot more and can't wait to get down to the marshes behind Pea Island and
Milltail Creek in the Alligator River wildlife refuge.

But there's a slight problem: I got carried away and let myself buy one too
many floating birding platforms. I really need to sell a kayak. (It's either
this or enter a 12-step program for boaters.) So if you want to flirt with
this addiction yourself, here's the offer.

FOR SALE
Used Wilderness Systems Rascal (yellow)
just under 10 feet long, weighs 43 pounds, easy to handle (excellent
beginner's boat)
stable in the water, low profile against the wind, very comfortable seat,
very durable plastic hull
a great flat-water boat (not made for white water or the ocean),
ideal for a small to medium-sized paddler -- say, up to 175 pounds.

Price includes:
cockpit cover to keep the spiders out when boat is stored,
a two-piece kayak paddle (kind of clunky but it works).

Price: $195

If you're local and want to try the boat before buying, you're welcome to do
that. If you're new to kayaks, I'll take you out. (I learned by doing, and
there's almost no expertise required in this kind of boat.) Just give me a
call or email for more info.
